I hope my promise that this race would mark "the beginning of Summer" doesn't turn out to mean it will rain like today from now till September! It didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm, and I was glad to find that my HUDL's touch screen still works in the rain. I'm glad to say my new app. worked ok and it certainly made working out the results a lot easier than in previous years, especially with 18 teams competing this year. There have been years when we had more teams but they predate the earliest results posted on the web which is 2001.

Thanks as usual to the helpers, Rob Henderson, Ian Bailey and Gareth Hughes, plus the lady who started us so that I could run the first leg for the first time in a long time. Slightly nerve wracking running back to the finish wondering if I would get there before the first finisher so I could record the times but I made it with a few minutes to spare.

Congratulations of course also go to the prize winners, some familiar names again this year. Perpetual motion squad made it three wins in a row for the open prize, but failed to improve on their time from last year. LEC Runners picked up the prize for the "Age and Gender Corrected" time for an incredible sixth year in a row, and beating their own record (corrected) time by a considerable margin. Quite remarkable. Surprisingly last year Maths and Stats did not pick up a prize, but this year they were back to form with the mixed team of Tyrannosaruses winning. Last but not least the ladies prize was won by "Jelly Legs" in a new record time which also placed them third in the "corrected" placings. Their new record time is a full 1 minute 45 seconds faster than the previous record for the "new course" ( used since 2012 ).
