Physics Relay Committee Message

Ideal conditions for the organisers this year! Lots of rain beforehand so the stakes went in easily, but sunny on the day. The temporary rerouting of leg 4 to avoid the newly seeded playing fields seems to have worked out ok. However apparently if the three trucks delivering sand had not got stuck trying to turn off Green Lane it might have been a bit trickier. Also it seems the archers on Leg 3 did not manage to hit any of the runners. Shame we don't do split times, we could see if times were faster on that leg this year.

Despite the departure of Patrick Brown who had masterminded the Maths teams for many years, the Maths&Stats teams continued to do well, winning two categories. Congratulations to them, also the DoM ladies and the late entry from ES who won the age corrected race as well as being second overall.

Thanks as ever to all helpers, who this year were all from the high energy physics group. Special thanks to Rob Henderson for putting out and taking in the flags, and marshalling the unusual route for leg 4. Thanks also to Ruth Davidson for help with the timing, and to the road marshalls Brian Davies, James Walder, and Lee de Mora.
