GridPP, NorthGrid and the Lancaster HEP Grid farm.

The LHC experiments will be producing tens of petabytes of data per year, and the DØ is already working with petabytes of data. This all means that world-wide distributed computing solutions (a Grid) are required. Lancaster has been closely involved with these developments in two ways. It provides Grid computing and storage through our farm of computers and storage arrays. This forms part of a 'Tier 2' grid facility spread across Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield; Lancaster chairs NorthGrid. We have also been working on developing the Grid software and applications through the UK GridPP collaboration, and we provide the Applications Co-ordiantor. We are directly involved in the Grid developments for DØ.
